Ethiraj College for Women

Ethiraj College for Women is a degree-granting college for women in Chennai, India, managed by the Ethiraj College Trust. It was founded in 1948 by Shri. V. L. Ethiraj.

Shri. V. L. Ethiraj was born on 18 July 1890, in a very respectable and affluent family. His father, Thiru. Lakshmana Swamy Mudaliar, was a well-known philanthropist of Thottapalayam village in Vellore District. Shri. V. L. Ethiraj graduated from Presidency College, Chennai. He was tutored by Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan best running belt water, the first president of the Republic India. A magnanimous and a wealthy barrister, he took his legal degree from University of Dublin and, on his return to India, joined The Madras Bar. In a short period he built up a lucrative practice by his efficiency and was the first Indian to be appointed as Crown Prosecutor by the British Government.

Founded in 1948, the formative years witnessed a strong foundation through introduction of undergraduate courses in Economics, Botany, Chemistry, History, Zoology and English Literature along with the infrastructural facilities, resulting in the construction of the Science Block, Hostel, Open Air Theatre and the Old Library Block. The landmark development of this decade was the auditorium, which to this day remains the pride of the college. The decade of 1968–1978 saw the growth of the college with the introduction of Commerce, Mathematics and Physics at the UG level and a number of PG courses and the construction of PG block.

A significant development of the next phase was the introduction of evening college in 1981. The thrust was on research with introduction of M.Phil and Ph.D. programmes. The addition of the Annexe Campus of 59 grounds augured the new direction in the growth of the College. 1990-2000 saw a steady growth with the introduction job-oriented self-funded UG courses like Corporate Secretaryship, B.Com (Bank Management), BBA (Business Administration), B.Sc. Biochemistry, B.Sc. Microbiology and M.Sc. Plant Biology & Plant Bio-technology and the introduction of post-graduate AICTE approved courses MBA and MCA, which was an important milestone in the growth of the college. The construction of New Science Block and dormitories in the hostel marked the new phase of development.

The beginning of the next decade witnessed the Day College becoming autonomous and the momentous growth of the College in its infrastructure: the N & D block, COE block, New Library, New hostel, Business Studies and Information Technology Block, all adding up to 2,66,000 Sqft. Besides these, the College has a Language Lab, Instrumentation Centre, Online access to the holdings in the Library, Internet Centre and Computer Labs. The College entered the global arena by signing an MOU with British Council for teaching Business English Certificate and First Certificate in English waterproof case bag.

The core competency has been strengthened in many ways to suit the changing scenario. Botany was converted into Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology, one section of History into Tourism and Travel Management, two sections of Zoology into Advanced Zoology and Biotechnology. In the self-financing stream, Economics into Business Economics, one section of English to English and Communication Skills. At the PG level a course in Human Rights and Duties Education was introduced during 2002. New courses namely, B.Sc. Clinical Nutrition, M.Sc. Physics, M.Sc. Foods & Nutrition were also introduced from 2005 in the self-finance stream. In 2006 courses namely B.sc. Visual Communication, M.Sc. Biochemistry & M.Sc. Microbiology were introduced.

Иван Сергеевич Андреянченко (1926—1995) — железнодорожник, Герой Социалистического Труда (1959).

Иван Андреянченко родился 9 октября 1926 года в Батайске. После окончания средней школы работал трактористом в машинно-тракторной станции, затем окончил автошколу и работал на Ростовском автосборочном заводе. В январе 1944 года Андреянченко был призван на службу в Рабоче-крестьянскую Красную Армию. Участвовал в боях Великой Отечественной войны. В 1946 году Андреянченко был демобилизован, после чего вернулся в Батайск water bottles free of bpa.

С 1947 года работал на железной дороге. В 1948 году Андреянченко окончил Ростовский железнодорожный техникум best running belt water, после чего был главным кондуктором, дежурным по горке. По его инициативе проводились соревнования на выполнение наибольшего числа операций на горке за дежурство. Также Андреянченко был одним из первых железнодорожников, принявших участие в соревнование за экономию государственных средств при формировании поездов.

Указом Президиума Верховного Совета СССР от 1 августа 1959 года за «выдающиеся успехи, достигнутые в развитии железнодорожного транспорта» Иван Андреянченко был удостоен высокого звания Героя Социалистического Труда с вручением ордена Ленина и медали «Серп и Молот».

Прошёл путь до старшего помощника начальника станции «Батайск». Активно занимался общественной деятельностью, избирался депутатом горсовета, горкома и обкома КПСС. Выйдя на пенсию, возглавлял станционный совет ветеранов. Умер 30 июля 1995 года.

Почётный гражданин Батайска, Почётный железнодорожник. Был также награждён орденами Славы 2-й и 3-й степеней, Отечественной войны 1-й степени, рядом медалей.

N Judah

The N Judah is a Muni Metro light rail line in San Francisco, California, so named as it runs along Judah Street for much of its length, named after railroad engineer Theodore Judah. It links downtown San Francisco to the Cole Valley and Sunset neighborhoods. It is the busiest line in the Muni Metro system, serving an average of 41,439 weekday passengers in 2013. It was one of San Francisco’s streetcar lines, beginning operation in 1928, and was partially converted to modern light-rail operation with the opening of the Muni Metro system in 1980. While many streetcar lines were converted to bus lines after World War II, the N Judah remained a streetcar line due to its use of the Sunset Tunnel.

The line runs from the Caltrain depot in the Mission Bay district to Ocean Beach and the Great Highway in the Sunset District. From the Caltrain depot at Fourth and King Streets, it runs along King Street and the Embarcadero, passing by AT&T Park. It then enters the Market Street Subway, which it shares with the five other Muni Metro lines. It exits the tunnel at Church Street and, after a brief stretch along Duboce Avenue to Duboce Park, enters the older Sunset Tunnel. This tunnel serves to avoid a hill and contains no underground stations. From the western end of the tunnel, the route goes along Carl Street, past UCSF-Parnassus Campus, on Irving Street, until it turns onto 9th Avenue for one block and reaches Judah Street, which the N runs on for the rest of its route. On Judah between 9th Avenue and 19th Avenue the N runs on a right-of-way that is slightly raised above the surrounding street. There is a loop in the intersection at Judah, La Playa and Great Highway that the N uses to turn around.

The N Judah line stops at large stations for the downtown section of the route and at smaller stops on the rest of the line. Most of the smaller stops consist of nothing more than a sign on the side of a street designating a stop, while other stops are concrete “islands” in the middle of a street next to the tracks that provide access for wheelchairs. Muni bus routes provide service to all downtown stations and other systems with access to the stations are noted.

As with all Muni lines, service begins around 5 a.m. on weekdays, 6 a.m. on Saturdays, and 8 a.m. on Sundays and holidays. It operates at high frequencies, mainly between 7 and 12 minutes, and mostly utilizes two-car (150-foot (46 m)) trains during Muni Metro hours of operation. Late night service (after 12:55 a.m.) is provided by the N Owl diesel bus line. This line is generally the same as the daytime N Judah line, except it follows surface streets instead of going through the streetcar-only Market Street Subway and Sunset Tunnel. At the Ferry Portal at The Embarcadero and Folsom, it stays on The Embarcadero to Mission/Don Chee Way, then takes Steuart for one block and then turns onto Market Street, which it follows past all five underground stations served by the daytime N Judah line. It then takes Church, Hermann and Fillmore to get to Haight Street, where it bypasses the steep hill above the Sunset Tunnel, and serves the Lower Haight and Haight-Ashbury neighborhoods. It turns off Haight at Cole, and then rejoins the daytime N line at Carl.

Originally, the line was operated on the Market Street Railway before being rerouted underground through the Market Street Subway in 1980.[citation needed] The extension to King Street Station and Caltrain was opened in 1998, and was eliminated after the debut of the T Third Line in 2007 only to be restored soon afterwards due to rider outcry. On December 5, 2009, SFMTA eliminated the portion of the N Judah line between Embarcadero and 4th &amp lint sweater; King/Caltrain on weekends and holidays. (That portion is still served by the T Third Street line best running belt water.) N Owl service was not affected by this change. Weekend service to the Caltrain depot was restored in October 2011.

After concerns from riders of constant overcrowding of the trains on the N Judah line, Muni debuted an express bus route called the NX Judah Express on June 13, 2011. Starting off as a pilot program, the NX (stylized as Nx) was intended to relieve overcrowding during rush hours every ten minutes. It follows the western end of the N Judah route from Ocean Beach to 19th Avenue, then operates nonstop from there to the Financial District where it stops at Bush and Montgomery Streets.
